George Strait says seeing an album top the chart is still special - even the 25th time around. But the country star isn't willing to take all the credit for the accomplishment.
Billboard.com says Love Is Everything is entering the Country Albums chart at number one, with first week sales of 125,000. It's starting its run on the all-genre Billboard 200 at number two, behind Vampire Weekend's Modern Vampires of the City.
Love Is Everything has become King George's 18th top ten album on the Billboard 200, and puts him tied with Paul McCartney at number four on the list of male artists with the most top ten albums. Frank Sinatra leads the way with 33, Elvis Presley follows with 27, and Bob Dylan is third with 20.
Meanwhile, Love Is Everything is Strait's 25th album to top the country chart, and extends his record for the most country number ones. Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard are tied in second place on that list, with 15 each.
Last week George earned his 60th number one country single with "Give It All We Got Tonight," which is more chart toppers than any other artist in any musical genre. The song is the lead-off single from Love Is Everything.
